ObsidianSoft respects your privacy and we are committed to protecting it. This policy has been established for you to understand our commitment. It was last modified on 15 May 2023. It can be changed at any time without prior notice and the updated policy will be available at the same location as this policy.

This policy will explain clearly whether we collect your private/sensitive information or not and what we do with it. Our main objective is that any information collected from you will be handled with complete care and respect and we will take all steps to keep it private.

For purposes of the Policy, “Application” refers to Multiplication Flash Cards. Application also includes any Application updates and upgrades that ObsidianSoft may provide to you or make available to you, or that you obtain after the date you obtain your initial copy of the Application.

The present Policy refers to “ObsidianSoft” or the Application depending on the context. BY INSTALLING, USING OR ACCESSING THE APPLICATION, YOU HEREBY ACCEPT THE POLICY WITHOUT QUALIFICATION. If you do not agree to this Policy, do not use or access the Application, and delete it from the device on which the Application was installed (the “Device”).

The purpose of the Application is to help users in learning their multiplication facts also called times tables using flash cards. Users can choose to type in the answer using the on-screen/hardware keyboard OR speak the answer. The speech is converted to text using Google's Speech Recognition Service.

1. Information Collection

1.1 Personal Information: The Application may collect personal information from children under the age of 13, specifically audio recordings of their speech when they use the speech recognition feature. This audio data is used solely for the purpose of converting the speech to text and is immediately discarded after the conversion. The audio data is not stored or shared with any third parties.

1.2 Non-Personal Information: The Application may collect non-personal information automatically, such as device information (e.g., device model, operating system version) and usage data (e.g., application features accessed, time spent on each feature). This information is used solely for improving the Application's functionality and providing a better user experience.

2. Use of Information

2.1 Personal Information: The personal information collected, which includes audio recordings of children's speech, is used solely for the purpose of converting the speech to text and providing the intended functionality of the Application. This information is not stored, shared, or used for any other purposes.

2.2 Non-Personal Information: Non-personal information may be used for analytical purposes, such as monitoring Application performance, identifying usage patterns, and optimizing user experience. This information may be shared with third-party analytics providers, but it will be aggregated and anonymized to ensure user privacy.

3. Advertising

3.1 Ad Networks: The Application may display advertisements from a third-party ad network. The Application uses Google, a third-party vendor, to serve advertisements in the Application, using the AdMob system (see http://www.google.com/ads/admob/). This ad network may collect and use certain non-personal information (e.g., device identifiers, IP address) to provide targeted advertising based on the user's interests. However, the Application does not collect or share any personal information with these ad networks. You can also change how Google serves you advertisements by visiting your Google Ads Settings page (see https://www.google.com/settings/ads)

3.2 In-App Purchases: The Application offers an in-app purchase to remove ads. If a user makes this purchase, the necessary transaction information is collected securely by the Google Play Store and is not accessible to the Developer. By using the Application, you agree to the delivery of these in-app purchases and any data collected by Google, as per the Privacy Policy of Google(found at https://policies.google.com/privacy).

4. User Control and Uninstall

The user can turn on/off sound and music from the main menu page of the application and can also choose the difficulty of the multiplication quiz. The user can also buy the ad-free version of the application by clicking on the "No Ads" button on the menu page. Also, uninstall methods are different for every device. ObsidianSoft has no control over these methods and denies any responsibility for your use thereof, and any data or personal information sent to third parties as a result of using such methods.

5. Permissions

The following is a complete listing and description of what functions on the Device are accessed and/or modified by the Application.

5.1 ACCESS MICROPHONE:

Allows the users of the Application to give voice answers to the Multiplication Flash cards using the microphone.

5.2 SEND AND RECEIVE DATA FROM THE INTERNET:

Allows the Application to send voice data to and receive voice recognition from Google Speech Recognition Servers. Also, required by Google, a third-party vendor, to serve advertisements in the Application. Also, required by Google, for facilitating the In-App purchases (IAP).

5.3 FULL NETWORK ACCESS:

Allows the Application to connect with the Google Speech Recognition Servers. Also, required by Google, a third-party vendor, to serve advertisements in the Application. Also, required by Google, for facilitating the In-App purchases (IAP).

5.4 VIEW NETWORK CONNECTIONS:

Required by Google, a third-party vendor, to serve advertisements in the Application. Also, required by Google, for facilitating the In-App purchases (IAP).

6. Risks Associated with the Internet or Wireless Data Transmission

Although ObsidianSoft doesn't collect your personal information or distribute it, complete confidentiality and security cannot currently be guaranteed on the Internet and/or where data is transferred using a Wireless data transmission technology. You understand and agree that ObsidianSoft is not responsible for any damages/losses resulting in the transmission of information through such means.

7. Limitation of Liability

ObsidianSoft will not be held responsible for any damages resulting from the misuse of any information collected through the Application by any third party, or any misuse of any information collected through the Application, not in violation of the Policy.

Gone are the days of A for apple, B for Ball...this is the time of synthetic phonics where each alphabet has a sound. Now, you don't teach children the name of the letter but the sound made by the letter. A has the sound that comes when we say the word apple, b has the sound that comes when we say bed, and so on and so forth. There are different systems of synthetic phonics but I have felt that Jolly Phonics is the best system. In fact, I made my first mobile app for my son based on the Jolly Phonics style of teaching.
