Counting is one of the most fundamental skills that young children can learn, and it is an essential building block for later math and number skills. Preschoolers who develop strong counting abilities will be better equipped to succeed in math and other academic subjects later on, as well as in their daily lives.

Here are some of the reasons why counting is such an important skill for preschoolers to learn:

How to teach Counting to Kids?

One effective way to teach counting to kids is through counting worksheets for kids. These worksheets can be a great tool to help children learn to count and develop a strong foundation in math. Counting worksheets for kids are designed to be age-appropriate and engaging, with colorful pictures and fun activities that make learning to count more enjoyable.

Another way of teaching counting to kids is by counting objects with them physically. When they are playing with toys, you can encourage them to count their toys. Ask them to make a pile of different colored toys and count them. This will also reinforce their color recognition skill - another fundamental skill for preschoolers.

Gone are the days of A for apple, B for Ball...this is the time of synthetic phonics where each alphabet has a sound. Now, you don't teach children the name of the letter but the sound made by the letter. A has the sound that comes when we say the word apple, b has the sound that comes when we say bed, and so on and so forth. There are different systems of synthetic phonics but I have felt that Jolly Phonics is the best system. In fact, I made my first mobile app for my son based on the Jolly Phonics style of teaching.
