Types of Buildings For Kids - FlashCards

 Hello friends,

As you must have learned by now if you are a regular visitor of my website or my FaceBook page I am a passionate believer in the power of flashcards. Give a colorful picture on one side of a card and some information on the other side and this is enough to grab a child's attention. Flashcards are small so they give an impression of a game instead of studies and children can relate to them more and enjoy their learning process. Also, bite-size information is easily digested by small minds. So, after the success of my Geography Flashcards, I thought about doing the same thing for building types. Actually, I had thought about building types even before doing the landforms flash cards. I was thinking of doing reading comprehension worksheets with them. But after I saw how successfully the Geography flashcards were received by my FB page followers, I decided to forgo proper reading comprehension worksheets and decided to do flashcards instead.

Flashcards are perfect for this task as information, reading comprehension, social studies, and vocabulary are all rolled into one piece of card. I have tried to use simple English that can be understood by Kindergarten to Grade 3-aged children. Every card has a picture and name on one side and a description on the other side.

How to Use:
1. Cut out an A4 size cardboard paper or you can even recycle an empty cereal box.
2. Cut in the middle lengthwise.
3. Print out the flashcards on A4 size paper.

* If you regularly do worksheets with your children, then as a parent I would personally recommend purchasing an inktank printer such as Canon's megatank printer. I am in love with how economical and efficient these new ink tank printers are; the printer has made my life so much easier as I don't have to rush to the market to get printouts and the printer doesn't even require frequent refills: a win-win situation! The following printer is available on Amazon so just click here to purchase it from the comfort of your home and get it delivered to your home easily and conveniently.

4. Put a piece of cardboard in the middle of the printed paper and glue the paper around it.
5. Cut out the flashcards. You will get three double-sided flashcards from each printout.
6. You can make all flashcards waterproof by covering them with Scotch tape.
Isn't this a great idea? Your children will love these cute flashcards. They are an excellent way of increasing your children's vocabulary in the subject of Social Studies. For younger children who can't read independently, you can sit and read the descriptions with them. Once the children have looked at all the flashcards, you may test them by showing them the picture side of the flashcards and asking them to define the building in their own words. This is also an effective way of learning English for children whose first language is not English. They can practice their English speaking this way.
Check out these beautiful flashcards below. The download link for high-quality PDF is given below the pictures. Have fun learning with your children. I am sure you will also enjoy them just as I enjoyed making them. Also, these flashcards are not just meant for parents.
