Reading Comprehension Worksheets about Winter (Grade 1)

There are four seasons in a year: Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter. Every season has its own charm. Playing in the park is more beautiful in spring with all the flowers 🌸🌸🌸growing around you. The mesmerizing hues of the autumn leaves 🍁🍁🍁leave no heart unaffected. However, there is something magical about winter ❄️ ❄️ . It may be the snow or it may be that Christmas comes in winter or it may just be the world getting ready for a new year. Winter is definitely special and something to celebrate.

So, winter is here and it is time to have some fun! The landscape has turned white with the beautiful, fluffy snow. Make snow angels or snowmen ☃️ or have a snowball fight with your children. By the way, I saw this great deal for a snowman-making kit so thought that I should share it with you:

So, do something adventurous this winter and go ❄️  sledding with your children. Make a cup of hot chocolate ☕ and drink it while sitting in front of the fireplace 🔥 while telling stories to each other. If you celebrate Christmas, then start decorating the Christmas Tree.

As you might already know, I am a strong proponent of the Jolly Phonics system of synthetic phonics sounds. Gone are the days of A for apple, B for Ball...this is the time of synthetic phonics where each alphabet has a sound. Now, you don't teach children the name of the letter but the sound made by the letter. A has the sound that comes when we say the word apple, b has the sound that comes when we say bed, and so on and so forth. There are different systems of synthetic phonics but I have felt that Jolly Phonics is the best system. In fact, I made my first mobile app for my son based on the Jolly Phonics style of teaching.
