Jolly Phonics Group 4 Worksheets

Image
Hello friends, Today is a very big day for all the children who have been using my worksheets to practice their phonics. I am finally finished with making my group 4. Yes, it took longer than expected. My son is in grade 9 and he was having trouble with some new maths concepts so I got busy with that along with my new online coding classes.  Group 4 in Jolly Phonics is the first group with long vowel sounds.  So, what are long vowel sounds?  Long vowel sounds are the sounds that say the name of the vowel. For example, both " ai"  and " ay " say the name of the letter  " a " . Remember that in group 1 we learned that  " a "  has the  /a/  sound that comes  from our mouth when we say  "ant"     🐜  and " apple"   🍎 .   This was the short vowel sound of  " a " .   Now, children are being taught that  " a "  in combination with some other letter will make a long sound that is exac...

Jolly Phonics Group 3 Worksheets

Image
Hello friends, I am back with Group 3 Jolly Phonics worksheets. Jolly Phonics is one of the most popular systems of synthetic phonics. Gone are the days when children were taught to read by just going directly from letter names to words. For example, A is for apple, B is for ball, and so on. Now, children are taught the sounds of the alphabet first. They are taught that the letter A makes the sound /a/. This is the first sound that comes from our mouth when we say "ant". Jolly Phonics has divided the English alphabet into seven groups and these groups don't follow the traditional order of A, B, C. The following image shows the seven groups of Jolly Phonics along with an extra group taught by my Phonics app on the Google Play Store. My app called Phonics Fun is 100% Free so you can download it and use it on all your Android devices. It is the perfect way to master phonics as you can hear phonics sounds and also test learning by playing many matching games. So, coming ba...

Halloween Multiplication Table Charts for Kids

Image
Hello Friends, How are your Halloween decorations coming up this year? I am sure that most of you may have started decorating your front yards as soon as October started. I am a fan of horror movies; Halloween decorations such as lit-up pumpkins and floating cloth ghosts fascinate me immensely.  🎃   🎃 🎃 Children are particularly fascinated by Halloween. Ghosts, pumpkins, bats, monsters, and witches on broomsticks are perfect for attracting any child's attention. Hence, I thought that I should make their process of learning multiplication tables more interesting and exciting by creating these Halloween-themed multiplication tables charts. I have put four tables on each page so that the children aren't overwhelmed. The first page is perfect for kindergarten to grade 1 children as multiplication tables of 1-4 are usually covered in the early years. Just print them out on A4-sized paper and put them up on their cupboard or wall where they can see it clearly and revise daily...

Learn about Animals in Urdu

Image
Hello friends, I am back with more educational resources in my mother tongue i.e. Urdu. I feel that in our pursuit to learn English, mother tongues or national languages are being neglected. For example, I was reading a few days ago that speakers of the Irish language (Gaelic) are declining day by day. Till the 18th century, Gaelic was the first language of Ireland but then it was changed to English. The Irish government realized that they will lose their heritage by focusing too much on English. Hence, in 1937, a revised Constitution designated  Irish as "the first official language"  because it is "the national language" while English was recognized as "a second official language". We need this kind of radical change to save the Urdu language and revive it. The government of Pakistan is working hard for this endeavor and has taken steps by introducing the Single National Curriculum in Urdu for primary grades. However, I thought that I should also us...

While communicating in the English language, speaking the correct tense is essential.  If you want more tips about speaking Engish fluently, have a look here . In my personal opinion, correlating the tenses in English language with the way time is expressed in someone's mother tongue is an effective way of explaining tenses. Read and Write about Harry Potter

Image
Hello Friends, It has been a pretty long time since I did some read and write worksheets; the last I did were the Summer worksheets. If you missed those, have a look here . Now, I am here with something that is very, very close to my heart. I was in my junior year at my university when I read my first Harry Potter book. I fell in love with the wizarding world imagined by J. K Rowling. Today's children are super lucky as all the books are out and they can read them whenever they want. We had to wait  😔  for the next book to come out and it wasn't easy waiting. In any case, I loved everything HP (Harry Potter). So, when my elder one started reading books, I just couldn't wait to see him read Harry Potter. To my utter disappointment, he wasn't interested. HE WASN'T INTERESTED IN HARRY POTTER! Imagine my feelings 😔! One day, I coaxed him to read the first book. I promised him sweets and other goodies 😃. He gave me a tough time reading the first chapters but soon he ...
