Jolly Phonics Group 5 Worksheets

 Hello friends,

Yes, it took longer than expected to make my Jolly Phonics Group 5 worksheets. I was busy with some personal issues and lost track of time. I have promised myself to manage my time more efficiently from now onwards and I will be more diligent in making my worksheets.

So, this is group 5 which covers 3 letter sounds and the two forms of /oo/ sounds i.e. short and long. The short sound is how /oo/ sounds in the word 'book' and the long /oo/ sound is how it sounds in words like 'moon'. We also have our first digraph i.e. /ng/  (a digraph is a combination of two letters representing one sound). There is only one sound made by ng when we say the word 'long'. Actually, /wh/ is also a digraph as it makes the same sound as /w/.

The following image shows the seven groups of Jolly Phonics along with an extra group (alternate spellings) taught by my Phonics app on Google Play Store.

Phonics Fun is my android app available for free on Google Play Store. The entire version is completely free. It has all 42 sounds of jolly phonics along with cute pictures. The children can practice their learning by playing 16 levels of matching games! So, it is definitely a fun way of practicing phonics.

If you like doing worksheets with your children, then as a parent I would personally recommend purchasing an inktank printer such as Canon's megatank printer. I am in love with how economical and efficient these new ink tank printers are; the printer has made my life so much easier as I don't have to rush to the market to get printouts and the printer doesn't even require frequent refills: a win-win situation! The following printer is available on Amazon so just click here to purchase it from the comfort of your home and get it delivered to your home easily and conveniently.

So, have a further peek inside my group 5 worksheets. They follow the same pattern as my previous Jolly Phonics worksheets. Group 5 covers the sounds: z, w, ng, v, short oo, and long oo. There are matching, coloring, writing, and blending activities.

I have written an article to help parents who want to know more about jolly phonics and want their children to become early readers. Have a look at this detailed article. It explains my journey as a parent to help my child become an early reader using the wonderful power of jolly phonics along with some really cool magic key books by Oxford.

Although my phonics fun app is a fantastic and free way of learning and practicing phonics, some children still prefer paper flashcards that they can touch. So, I have also published phonics flashcards that can be easily printed, cut, and used. Have a look at them here.

Use this tutorial to turn my phonics flashcards printables into quite sturdy and waterproof store-bought quality flashcards without even using lamination.

I hope you like this effort. All my PDFs are high-quality and you just need to print and use them. Please share about my work with friends and family  😊
